Sample pages from a proposed comic adaptation of the lost silent vampire film London After Midnight. Released in 1927, the film was a collaboration between director Tod Browning (Dracula, Freaks) and Lon Chaney (The Phantom of the Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and had the distinction of being the first American film portrayal of a vampire.

Unfortunately, the last known print of the film was destroyed in a vault fire during the mid-1960s. It has since become one of the most sought silent films of all time, due in no small part to Chaney’s unique, top hat wearing vampire, who you can see shades of in such characters as Santiago in Interview with a Vampire (1994) and the lantern man in Disney’s haunted mansion (both the ride and the upcoming, 2023 film).

This adaptation is based on the official cutting continuity sheets for London After Midnight, which are a detailed shot by shot description of the final edit of the film created by MGM studios at the time of its release.
